I loaded my #10 reel up with a small amount of mono backing and then spooled it with 600 yards of Western Filament’s hi-vis canary yellow 65-pound TUF-Line, followed by a 50-foot top-shot of Berkley’s ProSpec 60-pound mono. The Maxel Ocean Max #10 is the ultimate switch-hitter and can perform at least a half-dozen different missions and can do them all extremely well. The slightly wider #10 reel totally solves that delimitation with only a half-ounce of added weight, so it was the perfect reel for my application. I had some field test experience with the #9 Ocean Max reel a few seasons back, but it was a bit too narrow for my multi-mission usage plan and lost too much line spool diameter when I dropped down to deepwater wrecks. At only 24.8 ounces, it’s relatively lightweight and holds 550 yards of 80-pound super braid, retrieving 35.6 inches of line with every turn of the oversized comfort cranking handle. The 10G is in the middle of the pack, but is very impressive in that it can get a run-stopping 36 pounds of drag at the “strike” setting and a whopping 43 pounds at “full,” all while featuring a gradual ramp up the drag scale and total free-spool. The Maxel 10G reel is one of seven in the Ocean Max lineup that ranges from the smallest 05G with a capacity of 440 yards of 30-pound braid, to the largest 12G model capable of spooling 550 yards of 130-pound braid. Although Nick did not say anything specific about this connection for political reasons, he did go on to say that the Maxel Ocean Max reels that he represents are very similar to Maxel’s Sea Lion lineup and like many of the other competitive high-end jigging reels, his Ocean Max reels are, “assembled in China with precision components from Germany, Japan and the USA.” There’s been a lot of “talk” on the various internet chat rooms and local tackle shops about Maxel and Jigging Master reels being used in the same comparisons. I talked to Folsom Corp’s Sales Manager Nick Cicero who reps the line to learn more about the history of Maxel fishing reels, which have been around for the past decade. Many manufacturers have jumped into the arena to support this new game, and Maxel has been one of them. There’s “that less is more” theme yet again. The driving force behind this is the enjoyment, exhilaration and the quality of the experience versus the sheer quantity of a dozen thunnus stuffed in the fishbox. The demand for high-quality, feature-rich, downsized jigging reels designed specifically for use with super braid lines has definitely expanded over the past few seasons, dovetailing with the surge in bluewater tuna jigging throughout the northeast. The "Video Conversation" window shows both your outgoing video and the incoming video in equal sized windows. There are also buttons to send a file, send a text chat message, terminate the call, take a snapshot or invite other contacts to join the video conversation. There are very obvious buttons to stop the camera or mute the microphone or speakers, and drop-down menus to select from different devices for any of these. When you are in a video call, the controls are once again nice and clear and simple. I spent quite a while searching their web page, FAQs and User Forums for information on this, but couldn't find anything. On my test systems it looks like 320x240 and certainly not more than 15 FPS, probably less - it is very prone to smearing and ghosting. There is no "technical data" or "debug info" available that I can find, so I can't be sure what video resolution and frame rate it sends. Next, of course, the worst things about ooVoo: But that is a big IF - it takes a LOT of bandwidth, and a LOT of processing power for every additional participant in a video call. If you've got the bandwidth and processing power to handle it, and you need or want this capability, this can be the "killer" reason to go with ooVoo. The six-way video conference capability is amazing. Buttons are large and colorful, and the graphics on them and pop-up tips for them make it very obvious what they are for. The appearance, "look and feel", "user interface", however you want to term it, is very pleasant, and also quite simple. Virtually every piece of information or advice presented here has been verified in personal testing or playing experience, although I have of course consulted rather a lot of existing walkthroughs and board postings for snippets of information and things to try out. I don't recommend cheating, other than momentarily for the purpose of experiencing things that you wouldn't normally see, or in a last-ditch attempt to save a doomed character. Since trainers, utilities and mods aren't part of the game, I won't deal with them specifically. I've also used Falche2 Character Editor 2.10 and Inventory Editor 1.01 extensively to try out situations and features moreover I've used Fallout 2 DAT explorer v1.42 to unpack game files, Fallout Items Mode Editer 1.1 to check out some item details, Fallout Utility for Critter tinKering 0.62 to check out some critter data, and the script decompilers by TeamX and Noid as well as the scripts that came with the Fallout 2 Mapper to check lots of things. To my knowledge there is not a single significant difference between the UK and US versions except for the children thing. I've been playing the game using the UK edition, patch version 1.02e plus the "children patch". There are details and aspects you won't notice until your second, third or fourth game, playing different characters with different attitudes. The basic assumption is that players want to squeeze as much out of their game as possible - which is another thing that makes writing this guide worthwhile, because Fallout 2 is a game that just keeps on giving. For game mechanics, detailed item stats and such, consult the manual and/or available in-game information. It is not, on the other hand, an attempt to compile reams of game data such as documenting every karma point gained or lost, because it wouldn't be much fun. This guide is an attempt to provide a thorough presentation of the things you can do in Fallout 2: quests to perform, places to go, people to eat. That turned out to be quite an undertaking, but on the other hand, as far as I'm concerned Fallout 2 is the best computer game ever made. This guide exists because I realized that if I wanted the kind of complete Fallout 2 guide that I envisioned, it pretty much meant writing it myself. Welcome to my Fallout 2 guide/walkthrough. Introduction "Hey, stranger! Need a guide?" If you want to play a moron who can hardly talk because of his low intelligence, you can. If you want to play an evil bastard, you can (Yes, you really can hit children in the groin with a sledgehammer). If you want to play a goodie-two-shoes, you can. Fallout 2 allows you to play your character the way you want. Fallout 2 is cool because it's a nonlinear, nonclassbased kickass postnuclear computer roleplaying game with a high replayabillity value. Her partner helped her disengage her hyperfocus, to adjust her evaluation criteria, and to use Koretsky’s hyperfocus experience as a tool in their process and in a way that was supportive, accepting, and productive. Both partners were able to recognize when her hyperfocus would be beneficial and when it should be dialed down in this process. She used her hyperfocus to intricately study and evaluate hundreds of donor profiles when she and her partner were looking to have a child through artificial insemination, and again when looking for a lawyer specializing in the specific legal issues related to their adoption process. New York City based ADHD coach Jennifer Koretsky provides examples in The Distracted Couple from her own life, in which she found an adaptive way to utilize her hyperfocus. For instance, there may be ways to draw on the intensity of the hyperfocus experience in ADHD to help a relationship. Well, some working with ADHD would say… yes. Hyperfocus Summary Part 1 Chapter 1: How Your Biology Makes It Hard to Focus Due to advancements in industry and technology, our world has evolved rapidly over the last several decades. So we’ve looked at the down sides of hyperfocus. The gradual loss of infatuation may lead to a decrease in hyperfocus, according to Orlov, and that is of course just when the relationship waters usually get a little trickier to navigate. In other words, if hyperfocus were a theater goer watching an ADHD-impacted relationship on stage, it would have left during the intermission and gone to sleep at home not too far into the second act. That feels great for both parties but unfortunately it doesn’t usually last. As a contributor to the book The Distracted Couple, she describes how certain brain chemicals, like the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine, ratchet up during feelings of infatuation, leading a person with ADHD to very closely attend to the needs and desires of his/her partner. While hyperfocus make individuals with ADHD sustain attention on a specific task, it can also lead to difficulties in managing time and prioritizing tasks, causing further problems in daily life. ADHD is not necessarily a deficit of attention, but rather a problem with regulating one’s attention span. ADHD specialist Melissa Orlov describes how hyperfocus often emerges in the early dating phase of a relationship that is impacted by ADHD. Hyperfocus can be regarded as a manifestation of excessive attentional dysfunction related to ADHD. Hyperfocus is the experience of deep and intense concentration in some people with ADHD. In a relationship, hyperfocus may show up early on without even needing an invitation. The Upper Colorado River has several large dams on its tributaries above the Pumphouse launch. Drift boats work well above 500 cfs and below 3000 cfs while rafts are ideal in low and high water. The end of the float is slower with more braids. The canyon features faster rapids and waves with large boulders and care should be taken while rowing this section. The upper stretch is a mild braided meadow section. The Pumphouse to Radium river stretch provides mostly class 2 water but “Needles Eye” Rapid is class 3 or even a risky 4 water when the river is high (above 3000 cfs). I haven’t had it long enough to do what I’d call a “review” with things like laser cutters with their myriad moving parts and… you know, lasers, new issues can pop up months after you open the box, as components wear and maintenance is required. Production is already underway, and units are already rolling off the line.įlux sent me one of those early units to check out for a few weeks. In the case of beamo, it seems like the Kickstarter is primarily meant to help get the word out, rather than literally “kickstarting” the process. While I tend to be a bit hesitant when it comes to crowdfunded hardware (having been burned too many times by products that either never arrived or did arrive only to be total garbage), Flux has been down this road before in addition to Delta, it also crowdfunded and shipped Beambox (a slightly bigger, pricier, but more powerful laser cutter) just a few months back. Shipping/taxes aren’t included in those prices, and can cost a couple hundred bucks, so factor that in to any purchasing decisions. The early-bird models are going for $849, with the company pinning the final MSRP at $1,500. They sprinted past their goal of $25,000 pretty quickly, currently sitting at roughly $350,000 raised with a little over a week to go. One of the latest entries into this space is beamo, a compact, 30W laser cutter and engraver built by Flux - a Taiwan-based team you might remember for raising $1.6 million on Kickstarter with its Flux Delta 3D printer/scanner/engraver back in 2014.Īs with Delta, Flux is turning to Kickstarter for the launch of beamo. They’ve gotten affordable enough, and small enough, that a DIY home hobbyist can add it to their toolset without taking out a second mortgage or needing much more than some desk space… but they’re still a rare enough machine that saying “I’ve got a laser cutter!” makes people look at you like you’re a friggin’ wizard. Gone are the days when the cheapest machines were tens of thousands of dollars, and when the “compact” models were roughly the size of a freezer. I like the Beamo! I'm hacking around it to push a "entry level" device to the limits! Read my review about it.Laser cutters are in a fun place right now. G-code generated by LightBurn and LaserWeb4 can be parsed by this tool as well (but not all G-code is supported). This allows you to edit the F-code directly and also have a preview to know if you screwed up. It also generates visual previews of all cuts and engraving moves. The G-code cannot be run on other machines because there's some proprietary modifications to GRBL that allows FLUX to send bitmap images much faster than usual.įcode4humans.htm Converts F-code binary instructions to a human-readable version (that looks like G-code), and also vice-versa. I have written two tools here that can work with the FLUX-Task files:įcode2gcode.htm Converts F-code to G-code, useful for importing into simulation. The code is outdated, more recent firmware updates do not include source code anymore, but the old code remains. If you want to dig for it yourself, look for "fcode_executor.py", "device_fsm.cpp", "misc.py", and "test_fsm.py". But the microSD card on the Pi had some source code on it that I could read to figure out the fc file format. The fc file format is proprietary and doesn't look like the G-code that a GRBL laser control circuit would understand. The Beam Studio software generates ".fc" files and sends it over to the Pi for each job. The FLUX Beamo is a laser cutter/engraver that uses a Raspberry Pi as half of its brain. Often they will make slight adjustments to standard manuscript format. Standard Manuscript Format will help.ĬAUTION: That said, always read the submission guidelines for wherever you’re submitting. As an author, you want to make it as easy as possible for people to say yes to your writing. If these industry professionals can’t find the information they need, they might not consider the submission. Making it easy for an editor, agent, or publisher to contact the author or check that the story’s parameters meet their needs will paint the author in a positive light. If a piece of writing uses Standard Manuscript Format, the people choosing whether to accept or reject the text can easily find important information like the author’s name, the title, and the word count. Use Standard Manuscript Format to create the white space that inspires editors, agents, and publishers to delve into a piece of writing. White space gives a text readability.įor authors submitting work to publishers, readability could be the difference between someone skimming a text and actually reading each word. One inch margins, double-spacing, and starting each story and chapter halfway down the page create white space in Standard Manuscript Format. However, when an image or white space is added, this oppressive feeling vanishes. A sheet of solid text makes a reader feel exhausted before they even start reading. As an undergraduate college student, I groaned every time a reading was assigned in my physiology textbook because the authors seemed to have challenged one another to fit as many words onto every page as possible. It also leaves space for comments from editors and publishers. Double-spacing further spreads the letters and words out to help readers focus on and follow the lines of text. In fact, Courier New is the font used when therapists help stroke victims relearn how to read. Monospaced fonts are among the easiest to read, regardless of age and vision challenges, with Courier New being the easiest of all. The reason 12 point serif fonts, double-spacing, and other spacing aspects are key to Standard Manuscript Format is readability. It says, “I don’t take this opportunity seriously, nor do I respect the company (magazine, publishing house, etc.) enough to wear my nice shoes and slacks.” Authors should use Standard Manuscript Format to show they are professional and knowledgeable about the publishing industry. Not using SMF is the equivalent of showing up to an interview for a high-level corporate management position in old jeans and flip-flops. By arranging a manuscript in this way, authors are telling the person reviewing their submission they did their homework, and the author is demonstrating knowledge of and respect for the industry standards. The first and arguably most important reason authors should use Standard Manuscript Format is to appear professional. There are three primary reasons all authors should use Standard Manuscript Format whenever possible. The story begins halfway or two thirds down the second page (all new chapters or parts begin this way), and this page should be numbered 1 and have the header. At the bottom, include an approximate word count. The title and any pen name go in the middle of the title page. The upper left corner of this page contains the author’s name, address, phone number, and email. Novels and other long stories should have a title page. The header should be right aligned and contain the author’s last name, the piece’s title, and the page number. The two most common exceptions are the first paragraph of a story and the first paragraph of a new chapter/part or after a scene break. Note: Most paragraphs should be indented. Extra space between paragraphs indicates a scene break, point of view shift, or the passing of time.ġ in margins (again, this is likely your automatic computer setting) The paragraphs should have the same spacing as the lines. Note: There should not be extra space between paragraphs such as in a business letter. However, if you are not a screenwriter, this is seen as old-fashioned.ĭouble-spaced - this is a setting on your computer that puts a space between each line Note: the standard used to be a monospaced serif font where each letter was given the same space on the page like a typewriter. But from what I've seen so far, the choices have no affect on the overall game. You can go into dialogue with the characters where you're given a choice of questions and responses. This is a game based on the LOTR trilogy and as such you'll be able to speak with or go on quests for the fellowship characters such as Elrond, Aragorn, Frodo, Arwen, Bilbo, Gimli and the rest of the crew as well as new characters not seen in the film. You can visit any blacksmith in the towns who will repair your gear whenever needed, for a fee of course. Also weapons and armor wear over time and have to be repaired once their durability decreases. You can collect loot, which can be found almost anywhere such as in urns, in dirt piles, chests, and of course enemy drops, which consist of not only money but also special items, weapons and armor, which can be worn, given to other characters or sold. When it comes to loot, there's no "mine, mine, mine", everyone shares in the take plus you can share items, especially those that are of no use to you – there are certain weapons and armor that only specific characters can use, so it's best to pass them along.Īs an RPG you can level up your characters bt gaining experience defeating enemies thus earning points that will allow you to unlock new abilities, building up the characters skill tree. For instant Andriel can mix herbs, Eradan can spot trails, and Farin can find weaknesses in rock walls. While each character possesses similar abilities in ranged and melee attacks (its all in presentation that makes them different), they possess certain skills that are unique only to them. War in the North is a 3 player co-op, meaning its best played with three human characters, but single players can take on the journey with a computer AI controlling the other characters. I will still have to get the keyboard replaced at some point before the 4-year service program deadline, but Unshaky is a godsend in the meantime. That happens to me every now and then with the CMD key, but it has completely solved the vast majority of my issues. One thing it won’t solve, of course, is keypresses that aren’t being detected – where you get nothing instead of a double character. As both my spacebar and CMD keys were affected, I initially found that it was blocking Spotlight (CMD-Space), but there’s a checkbox for an experimental feature to cure that, and it works for me. I’m no longer seeing any doubt-activations. I’ve been using it for a week now, and it has almost completely solved my issues. For macOS Ventura, go to Apple Menu > About This Mac > More Info > Storage or System Settings > General > Storage. However, Unshaky is open-source with the code available for inspection on Github.
